Compass Oncology - Case Study

My relationship with Compass Oncology began with a short video to help a friend of mine. As the primary educator she teaches multiple classes per week to patients that have the unfortunate news of being diagnosed with cancer. Due to time constraints and other blocks there were patients that were having difficulty scheduling a time to attend the class and sometimes were just not attending at all.

Since her class topics remain mostly the same, we were able to develop a video that contained the subject matter patients needed to see on their own time. With a few interviews, graphics, and b-roll video, Heather can now teach patients at their convenience!

While we were on the west coast also were able to line up a former patient of Compass Oncology for a testimonial. While the subject matter of healthcare can be tough to discuss, we love to tell stories of patients that have battled though some of life’s most difficult times.

Fast forward a few months and I got an exciting email from the marketing director Jonathan Kipp - would I like to interview physicians and other employees from Compass Oncology to tell their story? Absolutely!

The goal of this project was to create content for social media and web. Each person had their own long form video, short form video, and 15 second video. On top of that we produced a number of mashups where employees talk about topics like why they love working at Compass Oncology, their own personal stories relating to cancer, and how patients continue to inspire them to come to work every day.

Jonathan locked down our location and built out the schedule for myself and my assistant in Portland, OR. We accomplished 42 interviews in a short 2 and a half days - each interview lasted approximately 15-20 minutes.

One of my favorite joys of interviewing people is making a personal connection with them. Some times we get time to chat ahead of the video interview, but in this case we only had about 5 minutes to exchange pleasantries and dive right into the questions. Challenge accepted!
